Gigabyte M912V: lights and shadows from the reviews on the Web
Danilo, Thursday 18 September 2008 19:00 The branded Netbook Gigabyte was now reviewed by a number of portals specializing in this field, then here is a brief summary of what appear to be the strengths and LeCun this device.
I have already proposed and described in previous articles and there was very impressed by some of its characteristics such as tablet structure, the presence of a Hard Disk 160 GB and an LED backlight screen option in the "V" device, ie its to which there parlaremo in this article.
Here are the ones that seem to be the deficiencies of the Netbook, which relate mainly to see how you can input devices:
- Keyboard: very very similar to the EEEPC keyboard, not known among the best because of its poor usability and feedback unconvincing offering;
- Mouse buttons: hard to press but ovviabile problem through the use of the touchscreen.
What is striking in a positive way of the device are:
- The great speed of the integrated hard disk drive, which is struggling to reach 60 MB / s read;
- The presence of the Express Card slot that allows you to easily increase the functionality of the device;
- Easy access to internal components such as RAM and hard disk drive;
- Quietness combined with high temperatures as they were not excessive in the first EEEPC
- The presence of the display with LED backlight that offers advantages mainly in 3 areas:
- Battery Life: Allows you to have a duration of 10-20% higher;
- Image quality: it offers a contrast and a brightness of far more than the normal display;
- Reduction of heat output;
There are no precise data on the battery life of the Gigabyte M912 V, which should guarantee the autonomy of 3 hours on the model with LED backlighting, and the Operating System pre-installed in the model tested was Windows Vista.
Many of you will be left amazed by seeing the name associated with a device like this, well we must confess that the system gave a good impression to those who have tested, running with surprising fluidity despite the presence of only 1 GB of RAM . It appears that to assist the implementation of the SO is high speed and hard drive and integrated Multithreading dell'Atom.
We look forward to a real and widespread availability in our country of this device, for which the specifications of the various configurations (presence or not of the Bluetooth module, and hard drive capacity, Operating System, type of display, etc. etc. ...) are still, unfortunately , unclear.
